You’ve written your project lists and your sub-lists. The goals,  actions and sub-actions (process goals) have been defined and really thought about in detail. You know what steps you need to take to get to your ultimate goal.

You can write them on paper, in a journal, or keep them on your notes apps (OneNote, Evernote, or just Notes on iPhone). Wherever you put them, keep them all in the same place so you’re not having to hunt for where you wrote your list for one of your projects.

My advice is to get yourself a To Do list App. Something that’s designed to work as a To Do list which gives you the opportunity to add tasks and deadline dates.

Should you have a different To Do list for each project? There are different schools of thought on this one. Some say yes. Create a separate list for each one and manage through each list once you schedule time to focus on each. Others say you should only have one To Do list because then you are never having to prioritise each project, you are only prioritising the tasks that need to be ticked off.

I suggest if you’re disciplined enough to schedule blocks of time for each of the projects you’ve created based on how important each one is to you then you can have multiple lists running. If you’re not disciplined enough to schedule blocks of time, we need to work on that (see 2.10 and 2.13). Then you can just put everything into one To Do list.

The important thing is to have a single To Do list App and ensure that everything you identify that needs to get done is added to the list and worked through one by one.

If you’re interested in combining your To Do list App with the Important/Urgent Matrix from section 1.6 you could download an App like ‘Eisenhower’ as this lets you put things in the categories of Do, Schedule, Delegate and Don’t Do.
