WHAT IS NLP?

NLP stands for Neuro Linguistic Programming and was devised in the 1970s by Richard Bandler and John Grinder after they modelled the excellent work of a number of key people in the world of therapy and change - Milton Erickson, Virginia Satir, Gregory Bateson and Fritz Perls.

Neuro is all about how we filter the world through our senses and nervous system

Linguistic is all about how we use language to code and convey our thoughts with precision or imprecision

Programming is how we code our values, beliefs, and motivators to achieve

If you want a formal definition of NLP, here you go:

NLP is the study of the structure of subjective experience. It is both an attitude and a methodology that leaves a trail of techniques. The methodology centres around the modelling of excellence.

Translated, this means that brilliant practitioners in the field of the mind and communication have been studied, and the most excellent things they do have been modelled so that there is a set of truly practical techniques that we can all use in our daily lives to improve the way we think and live.

NLP is truly transformative. Just ask anyone who uses the techniques on a daily basis or who has had NLP Coaching.
