Ralph Varcoe, founder of PiViva and a leader at Accelerate Performance, led a Hired to Question workshop with Year 13 students at Wimbledon High School. The session explored the growing impact of artificial intelligence on work and the skills young people need to use it with confidence and good judgement.
Students examined how AI is reshaping recruitment and what it means to be effective drivers, interrogators and judges of AI. Working together through practical exercises, they developed their questioning and critical thinking skills and took away a guide to continue learning.
What the students said
In Wimbledon High School’s account of the workshop, Year 13 students reflected on the experience:
“I feel I have greater confidence around using AI and feel reassured”
“The session improved my confidence, and I feel more in control!”
“I like that the session introduced a new perspective towards the influence of AI in the work sector”
Their responses underline the value of approaching AI with curiosity and critical thinking, rather than treating it as a substitute for human judgement.
